35 Contact Hours for PMP Exam?

Hi Edward, my name is Murat. I read your articles on preparation for PMP® exam, really helpful articles. Thanks for them. I have couple of questions:

1- regarding the 35 contact hours. During last few years I took several training courses on Project Management. Can the hours from these trainings be used as 35 contact hours?

2- my brother and myself we both are going to prepare for PMP® test. How do you think – can we buy one course for online PMP® preparation training and can we both use it? I thought there might be certain things to consider, i.e. maybe the final exam will be available only once, so only one of us will be able to take that, and other such things etc.

I’d appreciate if you can share your experience on this.

Thank you,
Murat

Thanks for your questions.

1 – Sure, as long as the course contents are about project management, and you have attended at least 35 hours of courses, that should be okay. Remember to keep your course certificate as well as the course outline / materials in case for the PMI audit.

2 – if you do not need the 35 Contact Hours certificate for your PMP® application, you and your brother may make use of the same online PMP® training course provided the licence agreement allows that. It is better for you to ask the course providers directly.

Wish you PMP® success! Edward
