Contact Hours of PMP Valid for PMI-ACP Certification?

I have 35 hours of project management learning for PMP exam. Can I use the same 35 hours project management contact hours for PMI-ACP® exam?

That would depend on the subject of the PMP Contact Hours you have earned before:

  • If the PMP Contact Hours are about Agile project management and methodologies, the answer is YES.
  • If the PMP Contact Hours are about general and traditional waterfall project management OR just about preparing you for the PMP Exam, the answer is NO.

Take an example, the 35 Contact Hours offered by the PM PrepCast™ online PMP Exam training course is NOT valid as the 21 Contact Hours for the PMI-ACP® Exam. You will need to enrol for the Agile PrepCast™ to earn the 21 Contact Hours instead. (Besides, enrolling in a course targeted at the PMI-ACP® Certification will help you get started with your exam preparation which will ultimately save you time and money — that’s my personal experience. Also, you can earn additional PDUs for your PMP re-certification — 37 PDUs in the case of Agile PrepCast™.)

Wish you PMI-ACP® success!
