With a family of two kids, how did you prepare for the PMP Certification?

I am currently pursing the certification and looking to take the test within a 3 month time frame.

Thanks for your question. Yes, having two or more kids AND a full-time job make getting PMP Certified much more difficult. At the time of beginning my PMP Exam journey, I was also quite worried that I could not make it.

Luckily, my experience told me and fellow Aspirants that getting PMP Certified while having to take care of kids, full-time job and other obligations is workable. My tips are:

  • have the determination (as the burden or feeding kids will give you an extra push)
  • have a detailed and realistic study plan
  • take online PMP Exam training instead of classroom lectures
  • find any “idle” time you may have and fit your PMP Exam study around that time (e.g. commute time, lunch time, late night, while the kids having interest classes, soccer lessons, etc.)
  • make use of annual leaves from work to concentrate on study
  • stick to your study plan and yet if circumstances arises, feel free to postpone your exam date

I took around two months to finish my exam study and passed the PMP Exam in first try. I am sure you will also be able to pass the PMP Exam with success!
