PMP vs PMI vs Scrum

Hi,

I’m in IT line and interested in business analyst role. To improve my knwoledge, I would like to take Certification but not sure whether to take PMP or PMI-ACP® or even ScrumMaster. Based on the trend now, it seems like most people go for PMI-ACP® now.

Any advice?

Thanks. It really depends on which certification will be most beneficial to your current job or profession. When only PMP, PMI-ACP® and ScrumMaster are considered, the popularity is approximately in this order: 1. PMP; 2. CSM (Certified ScrumMaster); 3. PMI-ACP®. PMP is mainly about traditional waterfall project management and CSM/PMI-ACP® are about Agile project management. PMI-ACP® is also fast catching on as an Agile Certification.

In terms of difficulty and quality, the PMP is the most prestige certification in project management.

For your information, PMI also has the Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA) Certification for Business Analysts that may be suitable for you.
