[Updated] PMP Exam Simulator 2.0 Review - For PMP Exam 2018

Summary: The PMP Exam Simulator by OSP International LLC (a PMI Authorized Training Partner which is also the publisher of the renowned PM PrepCast™) has been upgraded to version 2.0 recently with all questions rewritten/reviewed to align with the new PMP Exam in 2020 and is currently updated for the new PMP Exam from July 2020.

The most sought-after new feature “Live Feedback™”  — which allows Aspirants to ask any questions related to the mock exam questions directly in the PMP Exam Simulator and get answers from a qualified instructor — is unique on the market! I highly recommend this exam simulator.

Learn More About PMP Exam Simulator 2.0

For peace of mind, the mock exam offers no-question 15 days FULL refund. The only condition is that you have started a maximum of 1 Full Mock Exams (fair enough for Aspirants to get a hands-on try of the question quality). However, most Aspirants never took advantage of the refund as the exam simulator can really help us pass the exam.

Important update: the PMP Exam has been postponed from 1st July 2021 to 2nd Jan 2021 in the face of the COvid-19. If you aim to get certified in 2020, then the current version is what you need! The new version of the PMP Exam Simulator for the 2021 version will be published in May 2020. If you would like to wait until 2021, then you may purchase the PMP Exam Simulator in May. However, please be warned that the new PMP Exam 2021 may be more difficult than ever. And it is highly advisable to get certified by end of 2020. Wish you PMP success!

What You’ll Get by Purchasing PMP Exam Simulator 2.0

PMP Exam Simulator Interface

PMP Exam Simulator Interface

  1. Access to 1600 mock exam questions for 90 days — questions covering all the knowledge areas of the latest PMBOK® Guide (including formulas, process groups and knowledge areas) which are developed by a team of PMP. All the questions have already been updated to the latest exam syllabus.
    • An equivalent of 9 full-length 4-hour Mock Exams — this would provide the most reliable indicator of whether you are well prepared for the exam as you answer the questions based on your knowledge (NOT your memorization of answers seen before).
    • The 90-day access period begins only when one takes the first exam in the simulator (NOT on the date of purchase). The access period can be extended for 30/60 days at a discounted price of US$29/$49.
  2. Subscription to a 5-part email course on “Advanced PMI Exam Strategies” — detailing the most effective strategies on how to get the multiple choice questions of exam correct and other tips and techniques from successful exam takers.
  3. Access to Online Discussion Forums — an online forum for Aspirants to ask questions about the exam. The forums are moderated by qualified PMPs (there are 12 of them) who would answer any queries about the exam.
  4. Receive Weekly Exam Tips Newsletter — including exam tips, techniques, FAQs, study resources, sample exam questions, easily confused questions, etc. — great for Aspirants.

Pros

  1. Fully updated to align with the latest PMP Exam (based on PMBOK® Guide 6th edition) — most of the questions have been revised (e.g. terminology, wordings, focuses, etc.) or added to help new Aspirants to be well prepared for the new PMP Exam.
  2. The publisher of PMP Exam Simulator is a Project Management Institute Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.). The quality of the mock exam questions can be guaranteed. Plus, the owner of the company, Cornelius Fichtner, is a seasoned project manager and instructor with profound experience in PMP training  (he is the producer of the online course PM PrepCast™ (review here) which helped me to pass the exam with 4 Proficient).
  3. Each question is explained with detailed explanations and references to the PMBOK® Guide so that Aspirants will be able to understand the reasons behind each correct (and incorrect) answer.
  4. [New Feature] “Live Feedback” feature from inside the simulator to ask any questions about the exam questions with a certified exam trainer. This is the life-saver if you read the explanation to the answers and you still miss something. In the past, Aspirants would need to copy and paste the question and answers in another exam forum in the hope of some peers would be able to solve their queries. However, this is not only illegal (as it is not permitted to copy and publish any questions/answers directly from any question banks) but also there is no guarantee that the explanations from other Aspirants would be correct. Through the “Live Feedback” feature, Aspirants would get the attention from a qualified exam trainer and discuss the topic till the queries are solved.

Screen capture of PMP Exam Simulator

Screen capture of “Live Feedback” feature

  5. Detailed statistics on the performance by domain/chapter and knowledge area to help Aspirants to discover their knowledge gap.
  6. The simulator has been created with the latest website technology so that it looks good on both your desktop computer, iPad, mobile phones, iPhones — virtually any devices. Aspirants are not confined to seating before the desktop to take the exam practices.
  7. It is one of the largest mock exam question bank available on the market with 1800 questions. The inclusion of such a large selection of questions would allow Aspirants to access their knowledge and exam readiness. It is possible that Aspirants will not meet the same sample question twice during their studies.
  8. The online question bank for exam questions is constantly monitored by a group of PMPs. Unlike the printed question papers nor the CD/DVD versions, the online questions can be updated immediately to reflect the latest PMP Exam syllabus in no time.
  9. [Hope you won’t find this useful] In the unfortunate case of failing the exam, the publisher of the PMP Exam Simulator 2.0 would extend the access period for another 90 days for FREE as a gesture of support to help Aspirants to continue their studies.

Dislikehand

 Cons

  1. Perhaps 1600 questions are too much for any Aspirants to answer them all.
  2. No Contact Hours will be provided by using the simulator.

My Recommendation

If you are looking for a PMP Exam Question Bank with high-quality questions and features, I will highly recommend the PMP Exam Simulator 2.0 by OSP International LLC. I have tried their exam questions personally which are very close in difficulty to (maybe a bit tougher than) the real exam. This simulator will be a reliable indicator of whether you will be able to pass the real exam!

Hi, Edward, I just wanted to thank you for this really useful resource, PM Exam Simulator. I was able to study, sit for over 1,200 questions on the simulator and just last week Saturday, 19 Dec 2020, sat for my PMP exam, finished with 40 mins to spare & passed with all 5 Process Groups at Above Target levels.
I am really glad I followed your process of study and progress evaluation using various study exam resources.
    Thanks again, Edward.

Hey Edward, thanks so much for the time and effort you’ve put into this website to share your knowledge. The amount of info and opinions on the internet can be overwhelming so I’m grateful to have found your site and all the great resources you have created to help others. I’m just wondering at which stage you began taking your mock exams? After a first pass of Andy and PMBOK guide, or only when you were super confident with the material after several passes of both resources?

    • Hi Jess,

I took the very first mock exam after I have finished reading the PMBOK guide in order to understand how far I have gone and how much I needed to do. The timing is not important, but it is advised to take as many mock exams as possible. Wish you exam success!

  3. Sam Eng says:

Hi Edward, this is a informative and most updated review that I found. Meanwhile, do you have any comment of PM Training Exam Simulator by Christopher Scordo? I found their price is much affordable and the interface are more advance in mimic to real PMP exam, with calculator and whiteboard, strikeout and highlight. But not sure about the questions quality, whether close to real PMP exam questions or not. Do you have any view on this to share?

    • Sorry, I have only tried the PMI-ACP mock exams by Christopher Scordo. The quality was fine. I suppose the mock exams for the PMP Exam should also be fine too. Wish you PMP success!

  4. David Robin says:

Hi Edward, I believe you have a mistake in the description above:

“Important update: the PMP® Exam has been postponed from 1st July 2021 to 2nd Jan 2020 in the face of the COvid-19”

The dates should be the opposite, postponing from 2020 to 2021, right?

  5. Anna Nallenthiran says:

Thanks Edward, I would also like to know whether it is also important to focus on the AGILE PRACTICE GUIDE in the PMBOK Guide 6th Addition. Is reading the first section ‘ A GUIDE TO THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT BODY OF KNOWLEDGE 6TH Edition’ good enough? Hope you can advise us. Thanks.

    • Hi Anna,

Right now there is no a heavy emphasis on Agile part on the exam. Some candidates have reported that they got around 10 questions on the exam paper about Agile (but please note that as the kinds of questions for each candidate is completely by random, you may get more or less questions on Agile).

      Wish you PMP success!

  6. Anna Nallenthiran says:

Hi Edward, I would like to purchase the PM Simulator $139, is there a discount for the month of May 2019? Is there any special offer from your site?

    • Hi, that’s a good choice. Unfortunately, the publisher does not offer a discount in May 2018. But I would say this $139 was one of my best spending decision on my PMP preparation. Hope you will find the same! Wish you PMP success!

  7. christian says:

do you have coupon for march 2019 (10% discount)

and purchased pm exam simulator, my credit card is charged with USD125.10, whereas I did not receive any email confirmation from your end, neither I am transferred to login or dashboard page so that I can access the simulator.
can you please help in this.
    Regards

    • Hi Amol,

The PM Exam Simulator is issued by another company and I was just a user making use of the product to help me pass the PMP Exam. I got an email with links and password to access the exam simulator right away after purchase. If you did not receive that email, you may want to contact them directly.

    Hi Edward,
I am preparing for CAPM. My exam is scheduled for March 17th 2018. I have read Rita’s RMC CAPM prep twice and now looking for exam Sim. Do you recommend me using PM Exam simulator or should I go for RMC FastTrack simulator. Please suggest

  13. ABDULRAHMAN says:

    Hi Edward
Thank you for the time and effort you take to support PMP aspirants. Do you have a recommendation for one simulator that resembles the actual style and difficulty of the real PMI exam, as the internet is full of PMP simulators that are claiming to be legit and accurately resembles the actual PMI exam.

    Thank you

  14. Eng. Suleman says:

    Dear Edward

Does the Simulator include questions about when the project manager be in case and he should do? because my only problem in the exam is when I face these types of questions . I don’t need straight forward questions

  15. Kavindi says:

    Hello Edward,

I have my PMP exam scheduled in 3 weeks time, I am not confident that I am ready and I think I need more practice with mock questions. Given that I have only 3 weeks preparation time, what would you recommend me to buy? Christopher Scordo’s or Cornelius Fichtner’s exam simulator? Appreciate your early response. Thanks in advance.

    • I personally have tried Christopher Scordo’s PMI-ACP questions only (but not the PMP questions) and felt that the questions were not up to standard. I don’t know whether this would be the same for the PMP questions. But Cornelius’ questions are excellent for both PMP and PMI-ACP mock exams.

As you still have 3 weeks left, you have enough time to be well prepared with the quality exam questions of Cornelius’.

Wish you PMP success in your first attempt!

  16. Manisha Sharma says:

    Hello Edward,

After a month’s gap, I finally have drafted the piece on my experience with PMP prep. I might post it on LinkedIn. Is it okay if I mention about your blog?

    Have a nice weekend.

    Regards,
    Manisha

    • Hi Manisha,

Sure! And I would like to ask for your favour to also grant me the permission to publish your lessons learned on this website as your experience will be very useful for fellow PMP Aspirants!

      Regards,
      Edward

  17. Manisha Sharma says:

    Hi Edward,

I really appreciate your response. I cleared my PMP exam today. 🙂 Can’t thank you enough for your kind words. I truly admire your active support on social site by creating your blog site. It’s extremely helpful. Wish you a great weekend.

    Regards,
    Manisha

    • Hi Manisha,

Glad to learn that you have passed the PMP Exam! Your efforts paid off! Would you mind sharing your PMP Exam lessons learned with fellow PMP Aspirants?

      • Manisha Sharma says:

        Hi Edward,
I would for sure. Thanks for asking. Just that I am not very sure of workding it properly. But would give it a try in few days.

        Regards!

  18. Manisha Sharma says:

The link takes me to buy PMP exam Prepcast Elite, which is costlier than shown over the site. The one for $125 is PMP Exam Simulatir Basic, should I be buying the basic one?

    • Hi Manisha,

It depends on whether you need the 35 contact hours as offered by PM PrepCast video training course. If all you need are just the PMP mock exams, the PMP Exam Simulator Basic is the one you would need. But I would say the PM PrepCast training is a great one that helps me to be well prepared for the PMP Exam.

      Wish you PMP success!

      • Manisha Sharma says:

        Hi Edward,

Thank you so much for your response. I purchased the Basic one. I failed my first attempt on 9th September. I have been reading your articles from a long time and use them as basis for my preparations. When I gave my first attempt, I was scoring between 68 to 79% for most of the tests. The test by you I scored above 85 I guess. And Oliver Lehmann 175 questions first attempt, I think I made 68%.
I have Rita’s book with me, whose questions always score me average. I am not sure when I will feel I am ready.

I remember when I was writing my first PMP, I was all thirsty, started having headache and couldn’t concentrate. I don’t know what was it I could not finish even 100 questions in 2 hours.

Now with the PMP prepcast questions, with the three consecutive 200 questions tests I have scored 76.1%, 81.5%, 77% respectively. But I don’t feel confident. Should I be worried or be confident? For the first attempt I remember I was confident.

PS: I am writing my next on 27th Oct.

        Regards,
        Manisha

      • Manisha Sharma says:

Also to clarify more, I have never scored in 80s consistently like you. 🙂

      • Hi Manisha,

Have confidence in yourself! Your results from the PM Exam Simulator are quite good indeed. There are many PMP Aspirants passing the PMP Exam with mock exams results lower than you (at around 65% – 75%). From your sharing, I see that one of the key contributing factor is your nervousness. Just think about this: you have prepared well and you will be able to pass the PMP Exam this time. Keep calm during the exam and I can’t wait to hear your good news!

        Wish you PMP success!

  19. Radhakrishnan Gopal says:

    Hi Edward,

Good info, thank you. I wrote and failed the exam last July. Whatever I do I am only averaging 65% on all mock tests!

I have next one coming up on OCT 6. I ready Rita 3 times. I have gone through a course. Its cost me about 2K$ so far already. Your recommendation of PM precast looks promising.

Do you think apart from the free trial they have a fewer day version for lesser cost? That is I do not need 90 days just 20 days? I know it souds silly but I just need to do those only to be ready before OCT 6.

    • Sorry to hear that you have failed the previous try. But I am sure with perseverance, you will be able to make it this time and become PMP certified. I don’t have any information on the “fewer day version”, it seems that 90 days is already the shortest period for the subscription.

      Wish you PMP success!
