Cornelius Fichtner, PMP, is one of the most renowned training instructors in the world. He published the PM PrepCast™ — a downloadable / online exam prep video course which has helped me to pass my PMP Certification Exam. Over the years, Cornelius has helped over 30,000 students to achieve PMP success with confidence.

This article will tell you about the story of his Certification journey.

Cornelius is a Swiss native (as evident by his special accent if you have taken his PM PrepCast™ / Agile PrepCast™ lessons) before coming to the United States in 2003. But soon afterwards, the company which brought him there terminated his contract (i.e. being unemployed). During that time, he was desperate to get a job by differentiate himself as a knowledgable project manager. And the Project Management Professional Certification was his choice.

But at that time, training courses for the exam was quite expensive, even so for the unemployed Cornelius. He tried to get the required preparation as economically as possible with creativity. He borrowed exam prep books from the public library (for free) as well as making use of an online exam prep course (free again). With perseverance and self-discipline, he managed to pass the exam in April 2004.

After getting PMP certified, Cornelius became interested in “podcast” when his wife gave him an iPod for his birthday in 2004. At that time, there was none podcasts for project manager and he decided to launch “The Project Management Podcast” in late 2005 as his way to giving back to the project management community. Later, he thought of the idea of the “PM PrepCast™” — a podcast-style project management training for the exam which can also provide the students with the required 35 contact hours of project management education. He meant to set a low price for the PM PrepCast™ as he would like to help as many people around the world as possible to get certified.

Today, the PM PrepCast™ has grown into a world renowned online exam prep course helping tens of thousands of people around the world to get the required contact hours as well as the exam preparation to ace the PMP Exam.
