PMP Lessons Learned: Practise Lots of PMP Mock Exams

PMP Exam Experience Sharing

Another proof that it is high time to attempt and conquer the PMP Exam before the change in 2020. Thanks and congratulations to Jehanzaib Bhatti who just passed the PMP Exam!

The lessons learned by Jehanzaib Bhatti on this PMP Exam prep project is detailed below:

I have passed my PMP examination last month with all five above targets. It took me 6 months to be prepared for the exam; I would like to share the exam preparation techniques, which I used for PMP Examination.

Exam Preparation Book

I used PMP Exam Prep by Rita Mulcahy as primary source of my preparation. I read the book three times and one time I read Head First PMP. Rita’s Process Chart is a very good source of learning the actions involved in all process groups. I solved all exercises of Head First but left Rita Mulcahy’s practice questions for the end of the preparation because I did not buy any simulation. I did not even read a single chapter from PMBOK® Guide but I used it as a reference book for only a few concepts.

Learning ITTOs

I did not waste time in learning ITTOs rather I tried to understand the concepts of ITTOs.

Edward’s Website

The 47 confusing terms from Edward’s Website and EVM questions were very good to clear out some misunderstanding related to few topics.

Practice

I practiced approximately 2500 questions before starting to solve Mock Exams, following are the details of practice question banks:

S.No Questions Bank Questions
1 PMP Exam Prep (Christopher Scordo) 1000
2 PMP Practice Exams (Kim Heldman) 800
3 Rita Practice Questions 413
4 Head First Practice Questions 278

Mock Exams

I did not buy any simulator rather I solved all free mock exams mentioned in Edward’s website and a few more mock exams, following are the details of mock exams:

S.No Mock Exam Questions
1 Edwell Practice Exam 75
2 Oliver Lehmann (PDF Version) 200
3 Free PMP Exam Simulator 60
